Is it a blessing to little Conrad that he was only sucking his thumb and that he wasn't more limber?

I was 13yrs old when i stopped sucking my thumb.I can't remember how old old i was when i stopped sucking it in public but i know i was very young i was scared of the reaction of people.My mum checked with the school to make sure this was not doing any harm to my education and in fact i was exceeding my age group.What is it you see wrong with this.Stigma.
