How do i set up a mailscanner for linux 11?

i need to set up a mailscanner on my linux 11. i have no clue how. i have a manual for linux 10. i don't know much about linux so i can not translate what i would do in linux 10 to linux 11. I have worked my way up to the part where i need to install pear and i am lost from there. Does anyone have any advise that does not include switching to windows or switching to linux 10?
